MV+EE get a mention in this nice musing on Neil Young's citizenship by Alexandra Molotkow over at The Walrus Magazine's The Haulout blog.  Read it here then google "honey slides" for the 15-minute meal recipe Rachel Ray is sleeping on.

Parasites and Sycophants disseminate some Barn Nova info here.

Electronic Voice Phenomenon are already stoked for Oct. 13th's Barn Nova: "Chances are--and we like to speak for everybody because that's what webzines do--you will find that your collection won't be complete without Barn Nova. Rightfully so."  Read more.

The folks over at Electronic Voice Phenomenon dig love, but none of that sitcom junk.  Samara Lubelski's upcoming Future Slip provides the love, dig: "Lubelski is a master of mixing the best of pop mores into her bubbling brew of mild psychedelia, with just a hint of folk. Her ideal of Future Slip has nothing to do with make-believe love but rather good music that deserves to be loved by you." Read more.

Large Hearted Boy has "Evolution Flow," a track off Samara Lubelski's Future Slip, available for your listening pleasure.  Check it out.

Cannibal Cheerleader is picking up what Jemina Pearl is putting down:  "'I Hate People' featuring Iggy Pop(!!!) on backup vocals [...] combines girl-group hooks with the menacing titular lyrics, Pearl seems poised to usurp her status as punk-rock frontwoman to solo rocker superstar."  Read more.

Jemina Pearl has unleashed the first single from Break It Up.  It's a duet with this guy Iggy Pop and it's called "I Hate People."  Pitchfork and Stereogum have the details and download links.  You can also cruise over to her MySpace and listen to "I Hate People" and three additional tracks.

Prefix Magazine says, "'I Hate People' should apparently be amended to 'I Hate People Who Aren't Iggy Pop,' because the grandfather of punk rock duets with Pearl on the track, lending his brassy vocal range to the choruses."   That suggestion's more of a suffix, you guys.

The FADER has a preview of "Lookout!", The Entrance Band's first single off their forthcoming album.  They're calling it, "[...]a beefy doozy, but more Mudhoney than Sabbath. Still gonna sound good when you listen shrouded, just make sure the blacklight is bright enough that you can see your hands when you air guitar shred the sweet solo."  Read more.

Wand's Hard Knox continues to gather sparks:

RCRD LBL's Samuel Duke says, "WAND's humble and magnificent new record for Ecstatic Peace, Hard Knox, seems like so much more than what it is–a collection of demos. We say that because its as cohesive–if not more so–than most of the basement folk offerings we've heard this year."  Read more.

brandon at Stereogum is giving Wand the close listen again, talks "Trails".  Read it here.

Noah Sanders at Side One: Track One separates the good from the "tripe sandwiches."  Wand's "Chrome" falls firmly in the good.  Read more.

John Agnello talks about his career as a producer, shares some insight into recording with Sonic Youth and Jemina Pearl, and reveals that his 3-year-old has excellent taste.  Read it here.

Peter Margasak at the Chicago Reader discusses Okkyung Lee:  "Lee looks well beyond the constraints of the cello, using it as a multifarious sound device, and springs sonic surprises on us at every turn."  Read more.

Brian Leli at Gapers Block reports back from The Entrance Band's July 16th show at The Hideout:  "Accentuated tonight in the songs 'Pretty Baby' and the set-closing 'Grim Reaper Blues,' their fusing of free-spiritedness and precision is that which sets the mind and body ablaze."  Read more.

Perry Julien at Creative Loafing Atlanta got some live shots of The Entrance Band opening for Sonic Youth on July 13th at the Variety Playhouse.  Take a look.
